Kobe, Japan
Kobe is a bright and contemporary city. At Meriken Park on the waterfront you can see modern art installations and fountains. Kobe is also home to iconic architecture such as the red Kobe Port Tower and the Kobe Maritime Museum. Take in the sights from the fifth floor of the Port Tower. Venture further into the city centre to see Sorakuen, a traditional Japanese landscape garden. Tuck into some Kobe beef, a tender and flavoursome meat typically served as steak. Visit Kitano-Cho and see the Gothic Victorian stone houses built above the old city, a much-visited neighbourhood on the northern edge of the city.

Mt Fuji, Japan
Mount Fuji is an active volcano near the Pacific Ocean coast in the Yamanashi and Shizouoka prefectures of Japan's central Honshu; approximately 100km southwest of Tokyo. Commonly known as 'Fuji-san'; its last eruption was in 1707. At 3,776m it is Japan’s tallest peak with a base of about 125km in circumference and a diameter of 40 to 50km. Around the jagged edges of the crater are eight peaks - Hukusandake, Izudake, Jojudake, Kengamine, Komagatake, Kusushidake, Mushimatake, and Oshaidake. Mount Fuji's northern slopes are lined with the Fuji Five Lakes - Lakes Yamanaka, Kawaguchi, Sai, Shoji, and Motosu. The mountain has been a pilgrimage site for centuries; it’s considered one of Japan’s three sacred mountains and is surrounded by shrines and temples. Mount Fuji is also a popular choice for summit hikes; especially during July and August. Its iconic profile is the subject of countless works of art, especially the Edo Period prints by Hokusai and Hiroshige.

The waterfront where you'll dock is just a short distance from where you can jump on the bullet train, which serves as a great way of travelling around Japan. The Japanese take shopping seriously, and Tokyo has some of the best shopping districts to explore. For some peace and quiet, visit Hamarikyu Gardens; a large attractive landscape garden.

Jamie Oliver himself remembers food being a huge part of his childhood holidays, with his parents always encouraging him to try new things. ‘It’s not about what you don’t like, it’s about what you could like!’ he says, which is why at his restaurant, there are plenty of fun ways to get kids to try new foods. Try and taste the fresh pasta being made in-house every day, or order some dishes to share so that everyone can try something different. Kids can even get involved in making their own food with the ‘Shake Me’ salad, designed especially for them to shake up just the way they like!
