Puerto del Rosario, Fuerteventura
The busy port of Puerto del Rosario is Fuerteventura’s capital and is known for its whitewashed houses and open-air artworks. Explore and admire the outdoor sculpture park packed full of mural paintings and more than 50 pieces of art scattered across the city. Adventurers challenge their loved ones to a lap around the tracks at Fuerteventura Karting Club. Shopping lovers retreat to Centro Comercial Las Rotondas and indulge in some retail therapy in the local and popular high street shops. Dine in true Spanish style overlooking the ocean with paella at El Cangrejo Colorao. Head to Playa Chica beach to try your hand at snorkelling, or simply soak up the sun on the sand. End the day with some salsa and Latin dancing or listening to a resident band at Mamba Rumba.

Day 5
Funchal, Madeira
It is very easy to see why Madeira has gained the name of 'The Garden Island'. Lush greenery with an array of tropical fruits, this island is a favourite on many cruise itineraries. Take gondola ride to the mountain village of Monte to experience some of the most breathtaking views of the island, then take the thrilling way down on a local toboggan, winding and bending over the cobbles; this is something you won’t want to miss. For wine lovers, venture out into the vineyards and experience some of the famous wine of the region.
Day 6
Santa Cruz de La Palma, La Palma
Spend time in La Palma's capital of Santa Cruz. Take a walk along Calle Real with its palaces, colonial-style buildings, shops, and squares. Explore Plaza de Espana or savour a traditional barraquito coffee in Placeta del Borrero. Admire the views from Santuario de la Virgen de las Nieves, step inside Iglesia del Salvador, or uncover ancient exhibits at Museo Insular. Travel south to marvel at the stunning scenery and colourful flora at San Antonio Volcano.
Day 7
Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Tenerife
Santa Cruz de Tenerife is one of the island's best-kept secrets. Santa Cruz de Tenerife, known locally as Santa Cruz, is a bustling centre of culture and activity. Visit the Museum of Man and Nature and discover the evolution of the Canary Islands. Alternatively, head to the award-winning Loro Parque wildlife park and come face-to-face with amazing animals and exotic birds. Head down to the Downtown Santa Cruz shopping district and enjoy a superb range of shops and tapas bars. Soak up the sun on the golden sands of La Teresitas beach or hike around the surrounding mountains and savour the picturesque views.
Day 8
Las Palmas, Gran Canaria
Arrive in Las Palmas, the capital of Gran Canaria. Explore the impressive Santa Ana Cathedral, Plaza de Santa Ana, Palacio Regental, and the Bishop's Palace in Vegueta - the oldest part of the city. Spend the day sunbathing on Playa de Las Canteras, regarded as one of the world's best beaches, or relish live Canarian folk music and dancing at Pueblo Canario. Relax in the idyllic surroundings of Parque Doramas or enjoy a leisurely coffee on Plaza Cairasco. Discover national treasures dating back to Roman times at El Museo Canario. Admire the indigenous flora and fauna at the Jardin Botanico Viera y Clavijo, travel to the famous Maspalomas dunes, or join a trek to the Bandama Caldera.

Day 10
Agadir, Morocco
Sitting at the foot of the Anti-Atlas Mountains alongside the Atlantic Ocean in Morocco; the southern coast resort of Agadir is a vibrant place to visit. Spend time hiking to the hilltop Kasbah to gaze at the medieval architecture and catch a bird’s eye view of the city, which was destroyed by an earthquake and received a modern re-build in the sixties. Wander the avenues lined with palm trees and high-rise hotels which contrast with traditional minarets and bustling bazaars. Visit the beautiful stretch of beach for a peaceful afternoon's sunbathing and swimming. Background
Marella Discovery 2
Overview
In summer 2017, Marella Discovery 2 joined our fleet. Marella Discovery 2 is the sister ship to Marella Discovery – and this is why their names are so similar. Having two ships means you’re able to pair a wider choice of itineraries with the exciting features offered by this larger, more contemporary style of vessel. These include an outdoor cinema, a rock climbing wall, a minigolf course, an indoor pool and a glossy atrium. Not to mention the range of bars, excellent dining scene and night-time shows enhanced by up-to-the-minute technology. Just like Marella Discovery, Marella Discovery 2 is All Inclusive as standard. So, drinks, including prosecco and cider, meals in a selection of restaurants and most onboard activities are included in the cruise price. Flights and tips are both part of the package, too.

Food & Drink

There are eight restaurants to choose from. There’s full waiter service at the main restaurant, which serves up traditional dishes with a modern twist. Plus, there are eateries specialising in a particular cuisine – think succulent steak or pan-Asian fare. There’s plenty of choice in the way of drinking spots, as well, whether you’re looking for a pot of tea or a flute of prosecco.

The dress code – The onboard dress code varies for each restaurant, but you can easily break it down into Beachwear, Casual and Smart.

The first is a come-as-you-are affair, so bikinis and trunks get the thumbs up, but please wear something on your feet for safety reasons.

Casual, meanwhile, speaks for itself – we’re talking tops and shorts or a sundress. Then you’ve got Smart, which is when you’ll need to dress up a little bit. You can wear shirts or polo shirts, trousers or tailored shorts, skirts or dresses, smart trainers, shoes or sandals, but we ask that you leave sportswear, flip-flops and non-tailored shorts in your cabin. If you want to add a jacket or a tie, that’s completely up to you, but our dress to impress nights give you the chance to get really suited and booted.

Entertainment

With so many entertainment options, no night onboard’s the same as the last. The Broadway Show Lounge delivers on West-End style numbers. Then there’s Squid & Anchor, which plays host to family-friendly game shows and pub quizzes. Movies by Moonlight takes over out on deck, while live musicians showcase the acoustics in the Atrium Bar. As the night draws to a close, head to the Live Room for a session on the dancefloor.

Health & Fitness

Chilled-out days onboard are spent getting pampered at the spa or lounging by one of the two pools – both come with built-in whirlpools, too. For something more active, you can aim for a hole in one on the minigolf course or reach for the sky on the rock climbing wall.

Kids & Teens

Little sailors are well catered for onboard the Marella Discovery fleet. When it comes to cabins, you can choose from family-sized options to inter-connecting cabins. It’s the same story when it comes to the food offering, our buffets feature fussy-eater-friendly picks like pizzas and spaghetti bolognese. The activity set-up, meanwhile, includes the likes of table tennis and football tournaments, quizzes and early evening shows during sea days. Elsewhere, toddlers and babies have their own toys, games and activities to get involved with at the M Club and the Baby Centre. Our range of shore excursions are also suited for families travelling with youngsters and teens – expect things like organised visits to waterparks and beaches, as well as once-in-a-lifetime experiences like swimming with stingrays. Kids aged 10 and over can also take part in our cycling tours, where you’ll follow an experienced guide on a route that ticks off some of the area’s must-see sights. We operate these tours out of most of the ports we visit.
