Spain's Atlantic coastline is home to the Galician town of Vigo and its many attractions. Explore the Cathedral of Santa Maria de Vigo and Plaza Constitucion in Casco Vella, before admiring the views from Castro Fortress. Immerse yourself in culture at Museo do Mar de Galicia, Museo Municipal de Vigo, and Museum of Contemporary Art. Discover the El Sireno sculpture at Porta do Sol or go shopping on Rua do Principe. Watch the fisherman at O Berbes and spend some time on Playa de Samil beach. Venture further afield to Santiago de Compostela and Pontevedra or even take a boat trip around the Cíes Islands.

Arrecife de Lanzarote, Spain

Today the ship drops anchor at Arrecife, the capital of the Canarian island of Lanzarote. Two splendid castles form the backdrop to the harbour - the 15th-century Castillo San Gabriel and 17th-century Castillo San Jose. Meander through the Old Quarter and admire the 17th-century San Ginés Church with its bell tower and Mudéjar-style ceiling. Indulge in retail therapy at Centro Comercial Marina Lanzarote before relaxing with a lunch of paella or fresh fish overlooking Charco San Ginés. The beautiful golden sands of Playa de Reducto are the perfect place to spend a few hours sunbathing. Venture inland to explore the lunar landscapes of Timanfaya National Park's fire mountains and Cesar Manrique's unique Jardin de Cactus on the outskirts of Guatiza and Jameos Del Agua cave.

Day 8

Fuerteventura, Spain

Fuerteventura, the second largest of Spain’s Canary Islands, is known for its striking white sand beaches, thrilling water sports, and almost year-round sunshine tempered by cooling breezes. Spend a relaxing day at El Cotillo's Playa de Concha or Sotavento's Playa de la Barca; both set alongside gorgeous lagoons. Enjoy family times amongst nature, animals, and birdlife at idyllic Oasis Park or encounter loggerhead turtles at the Turtle Nursery on Morro Jable Wharf. Take a buggy tour through the sand dunes at Corralejo Natural Park or stroll through 100 locally-produced sculptures at the open-air Sculpture Park in Puerto del Rosario. Step back in time at the former island capital of Betancuria with its Artisans Museum, Betancuria Archaeological Museum, and 17th-century Iglesia de Santa Maria. Explore the world of salt-making at Salinas del Carmen and Museo de la Sal near Caleta de Fuste. Witness the unique windmills at La Olivia, Tefia, and Antigua . Fuerteventura is also the gateway to catamaran trips to the uninhabited paradise of Isla de Lobos.

Day 9

Tenerife, Spain

Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands. The island is dominated by the dormant volcano Mount Teide; hop on a cable car to marvel at the views or take a hike along the trail. Tenerife is also known for its famous Carnaval de Santa Cruz with its spectacular parades, music, dancing, and colourful costumes. Siam Park is a Thai-themed water park packed with swimming pools, exhilarating slides, and plenty of family fun. Experience up-close encounters with gorillas, tigers, penguins, and other species at the landscaped Loro Park. Party animals can discover Playa de las Americas and its famed nightlife scene. Try your hand at windsurfing, kite surfing, or parasailing on El Medano Beach. The island’s capital, Santa Cruz, is home to Auditorio de Tenerife, Museum of Fine Arts, and Museum of Nature and Man. The UNESCO-listed colonial city of San Cristobal de la Laguna is well worth a visit too.

La Palma, Spain

Today the ship drops anchor on the Canary Island of La Palma. This beautiful island is a UNESCO biosphere reserve thanks to its rugged, forested landscape dotted with volcanoes like Cumbre Vieja and Teneguia. Stroll around the narrow cobbled streets of wooden-balconied houses and mansions in the island's capital, Santa Cruz de la Palma. Uncover local history and culture at Museo Naval, Museo de la Seda, Museo Casa Roja, and Museo Insular. Explore the craft shops and see artisans at work in the town of Villa de Mazo. Pay a visit to Roque de Los Muchachos observatories to see the world's largest telescope - Gran Telescopio Canarias - and witness close-up views of the amazing night sky. Venture two kilometres north of Santa Cruz to discover the magical Santuario de la Virgen de las Nieves church. Take a trip inland to admire the huge crater covered in pine forests and waterfalls at Caldera de Taburiente National Park.

Madeira, Portugal

Today the ship drops anchor at the Portuguese island of Madeira. Nicknamed the 'floating garden' due to its lush flora and fauna, there is no place that typifies this more than Funchal's Botanical Gardens. Ride in the cable car up to Monte, before returning back down to the city in a traditional toboggan? Head to the east of the island to admire the views from Pico de Arieiro, or venture west to visit the picturesque village of Câmara del Lobos and the Cabo Girão Skywalk. Take a ferry to the neighbouring island of Porto Santo, a beach-lovers paradise, or take a baptism dive with sharks and tropical fish at Aquario da Madeira.
