In Régua, wander along the riverfront and admire the scenery, or visit the Old Town and wander the streets for great bars, abundant shopping, and exquisite restaurants. Enjoy an excursion to the Douro Museum where you can gaze at a fascinating exhibition of the history of Douro wine. Continue on to Entre-Os-Rios where you'll enjoy an evening exploring this vibrant town; admire the breath-taking river views or see the vineyards in this UNESCO World Heritage site. End your day watching an energetic performance of traditional Portuguese folk music.

Day 3

Peso de Regua, Portugal

Commonly known as Regua, this northern Portuguese town is drenched with sunshine. In the heart of Porto country, local wine lodges offer tours of their cellars where the vineyards roll on for miles. You won’t be disappointed if you make the effort to climb Miradouro de S Leonardo em Galafura: it offers the most stunning views of the Duoro Valley and surrounding mountains. If you’re after adrenaline, take a bike ride through the mountain trails and admire the wildlife.

Day 4

Vega de Terron, Portugal

Cruise into Vega De Terron and explore at your own pace. Take a leisurely stroll through this charming settlement and gaze at the fascinating waterways. Wander the quiet streets and admire the lush landscape before enjoying an excursion to Castelo Rodrigo. The town has a medieval presence and a rolling hilltop position close to pine-wooded forests. The region is known for its castle which is a listed national monument; pay a visit to the ancient ruins and view the imposing walls which date back to the 12th century. Visit the clock tower to enjoy the fantastic structure and learn the history behind the protection of the citadel.

Barca d’Alva, Portugal

Barca d'Alva is the last Portuguese village along the Douro River. The village is surrounded by mountains and a long-abandoned railway line runs through it. The countryside in Barca D'Alva is very rich in agriculture, with crops such as olive groves, vineyards and almond being grown. This tiny port is your gateway to the Quinta do Seixo, a historic port wine–making facility typical of the Douro region.

TUI Luzia

Overview

With three dining venues and three bars, you’re spoilt for choice on TUI Luzia – our first ever new-build river cruise ship. As well as the main restaurant, Sorriso, there’s an al fresco eatery for dinner, which focuses on local dishes and takes its design inspiration from the Douro Valley. There’s also a self-serve lunch spot on the top deck where the chefs cook on an open grill. The bars, meanwhile, include a main lounge with daytime and evening entertainment, plus a quieter, cosier bar. There’s a shallow pool on the top deck, plus a wellness area with plenty of space for exercise. And, the ship’s Full Board Plus, which means three meals a day and drinks at mealtimes are included in your price.

Food & Drink

Dining-wise, you’ve got three places to pick from. Sorriso's open for all three meals, while dinner’s also available at the al fresco spot, Vinha. This place focuses on local dishes and takes its cues from the Douro Valley’s colourful landscape when it comes to design. Cinder, meanwhile, is on the top deck, and is open for self-serve lunches every day from the grill, plus barbecue lunches from time to time, as well. The ship’s Full Board Plus, which means three meals a day and drinks at mealtimes are included in your price.

Entertainment

Novo is the ship’s main bar and lounge, which plays host to daytime activities like escape experiences, craft workshops, destination talks and film screenings, plus the nightly entertainment, which includes local acts, live music and interactive quizzes.

Health & Fitness

There are plenty of places to take it easy on TUI Luzia. The top deck comes with a shallow pool, a sunbathing area and a bar. There’s a lounge bar, too - Novo Lounge - where you can join in with daytime activities like craft workshops and watch evening entertainment later on, including performances from our resident entertainment team. Then there’s The Retreat. By day it’s a cosy spot for coffee, juice and wellness sessions, then at night it’s transformed into a cosy, modern bar that’s ideal for cocktails.
