Day 1

Southampton

The Port of Southampton is the UK's number one cruise port. In 2015, over 1.7 million passengers set sail from its four dedicated cruise terminals - Mayflower Cruise Terminal, QE2 Cruise Terminal, Ocean Cruise Terminal, and City Cruise Terminal. Many passengers choose to spend time in Southampton pre-cruise to enjoy local attractions and get in the holiday mood. Visit art exhibitions at the City Art Gallery; step back in time at SeaCity Museum or Tudor House and Garden; try year-round winter sports at Alpine Snowsports Centre; indulge in retail therapy at WestQuay Shopping Centre; or enjoy live music at 02 Guildhall. Southampton is also the perfect base from which to explore the New Forest, Winchester and the Isle of Wight.

Day 3

La Coruna

La Coruña overlooks the Bay of Coruña in the north-west corner of Spain. Step ashore and visit the Tower of Hercules, Castillo de San Anton, and Castillo de San Diego. Explore the Roman wall, historical buildings and the medieval Church of Santiago in Ciudad Vieja. Get a culture hit at the Museum of Sacred Art, Archaeological Museum and Military Museum. People-watch at La Marina and Plaza Maria Pita, or relax on the Playa Riazor and Playa del Orzan beaches. Enjoy some family fun at Aquarium Finisterrae, Science Museum and Domus — an interactive museum. Venture further afield to visit the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Santiago de Compostela, Betanzos and Ferrol

Oporto

Port of Leixões is the main harbour gateway to the city of Oporto in northern Portugal. The UNESCO World Heritage site of Oporto is set on the banks of the River Duoro and is renowned for its port wine production. Walk the narrow streets of the medieval Ribeira district — lined with pastel-coloured town houses, neo-classical buildings and intricate baroque churches. Stop at one of the many wine and port cellars for a taste of the region's most-loved drink.

Day 5

Lisbon

Spread across seven hills on the shores of River Tagus is Portugal's capital city, Lisbon. Pavement cafes, bustling squares and serene gardens sit alongside palaces, bridges and castles in this waterside city. Immerse yourself in culture at Calouste Gulbenkian Museum and National Museum of Contemporary Art, or enjoy the colourful marine life at Oceanarium. Take a vintage tram ride through the city's cobbled streets, admiring Jerónimos Monastery and Belém Tower on the way. Haggle for bargains at the lively Thieves Market, or explore designer shops on Rua do Carmo, Rua Garrett and Avenida da Liberdade. Venture further afield and discover the fairytale places and ornate villas in Sintra or go dolphin-watching in Setúbal.

Portimao

The Port of Portimao is situated on the southern coast of Portugal, through the river mouth of the Arade River. The long strip of bars, clubs, cafes and restaurants along the promenade offer a selection of cuisines in a variety of themes. Heading inland, you’ll find plenty of shopping streets and a series of historic buildings. 3km to the south of Portimao city lies Praia da Rocha; a modern town packed with the facilities you’d expect from a beachside resort. The Port of Portimao is also just 20km away from nearby town Lagos. Learn about the history of the region with its charming buildings and peaceful ambience. Also situated in Lagos is the Praia do Anna, a small cove regarded as one of the most scenic beaches in the world.

Day 7

Seville, Spain

Seville is situated in the south-western region of Spain; 60km north along the Guadalquivir River. The highlight of Seville is certainly its culture and heritage, which can be seen in the gothic architecture still prevalent throughout the city. Various landmarks are dotted throughout, such as the Giralda Bell Tower. Visit the royal palace Alcázar of Seville or the Plaza de Espana; a plaza built in 1928 for the World Exposition. Head to the narrow streets in the Santa Cruz quarter to discover various shops that sell bespoke, traditional goods, as well as restaurants that serve a variety of local dishes.

Day 8

Tangier, Morocco

Tangier is situated on the Strait of Gibraltar, the most northern point of Morocco. This port city is rich in history and culture. Stroll through the old city ‘medina’ of Tangier and visit the stalls, shops, bars, cafes, restaurants, and the five storey-high Tangier American Legation Museum. Relax with a coffee and soak in the blend of Andalusian, Moorish and Moroccan architecture. Venture uphill to the ancient fortress of Kasbah for scenic views over the city or to discover the ancient relics and artefacts at the Kasbah Museum. Travel further afield to the stunning Grottoes of Hercules in Cape Spartel, just 14km to the west of Tangier.

La Verdon

The small coastal resort of Le Verdon-sur-Mer sits at the northernmost end of the Medoc peninsula in south-west France. The town has two Blue Flag beaches - Plage Saint-Nicolas and Plage de la Chambrette - where you can enjoy sunbathing and a paddle in the waves. Stroll into the town centre and admire the 19th-century Church of Notre-Dame du Bon Secours et de Saint-Louis. Pay a visit to the 68m-high white Renaissance-style Cordouan Lighthouse and climb its 311-step staircase up to the top. You can also take a boat trip from Le Verdon-sur-Mer across the Gironde Estuary to Royan or sail further on to La Rochelle and Ile de Re.
