Background
Spirit of the Rhine
Overview
The new Spirit of the Rhine sails into the Saga Cruises' fleet in spring 2021. This custom-built, luxury boutique river ship takes inspiration from the cruise line’s ocean-going ships and is exclusive for Saga guests. In her maiden season, she'll sail the rivers and waterways of Europe with a maximum of 190 guests and 40 officers and crew aboard. The onboard highlights include a panoramic lounge and bar, an inviting library, small gym, an expansive, shaded sun deck with a hot tub and open-air barbecue, and service that is second to none. All cabins are beautifully spacious and are some of the most generously-sized on the Rhine; cabins on the Middle and Upper decks all have French balconies with floor-to-ceiling picture windows. Your Saga Host will be on hand with help and guidance to ensure you make the best of your cruise experience. Spirit of the Rhine drops anchor most mornings in a new port of call, where you can explore independently or on a guided excursion. Alternatively, simply sit back and relax as you listen to the tour guide over the audio headset supplied in your cabin. Each day, chef-prepared cuisine is waiter-served in Panorama Restaurant on Middle Deck, offering a tempting choice of tasty fare at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You can also dine free-of-charge at the à la carte restaurant at the aft of Upper Deck which seats 34 diners in a beautiful, intimate setting. Afternoon tea, alfresco barbecues, and a Captain's Dinner add to your culinary experiences. Panorama Lounge and Bar boasts an outside terrace and is the social hub of the ship; the perfect spot to unwind with your morning coffee or a pre-dinner cocktail. Your Saga Host will welcome you aboard with a special drinks reception so you can get to know your fellow guests and crew; there'll also be a cocktail party during the cruise. Complimentary wine, beer, and soft drinks are served with dinner and also tea, coffee, and snacks are available throughout the day. Day and night, you'll discover plenty to entertain you on Spirit of the Rhine. Spend a few hours soaking up the sun and the views on the sun deck, partner up for a game of chess, or kickback and unwind in the hot tub. Lose yourself in a book in the library or work out in style in the small gym. In the evening, socialise with your fellow travellers in the bar lounge, listen to interesting talks by renowned experts, or enjoy classical recitals or in-house jazz bands.
