Nestled between Esna and Awan, Edfu is an Egyptian city located on the west bank of the Nile River. The famous site of the Ptolemaic Temple of Horus is one of Egypt's best-preserved ancient monuments and most atmospheric. Tour the temple to notice colourful carvings, granite statues, and its ancient chambers. You can also spectate the magnificent Edfu Sound and Light Show on your visit. Wander the fascinating Tombs of El Kab to notice colourful scenes of the ancient city's daily life and pause at the Roman period temple of Kanais filled with great sights. Perhaps enjoy a camel ride through the sands of the city and the large quarry Gibel Silsila is home to several interesting excavations.

Southern Egypt's strategic and commercial gateway is Aswan; a city on the Nile River well-known for its significant archaeological sites.
