Today the ship drops anchor at the port of Stavanger in southwestern Norway – the gateway to the majestic Lysefjord and stunning vistas from Pulpit Rock. Meander through the cobbled streets lined with white-washed wooden houses and see artists at work in the old quarter. Visit the 12th-century Stavanger Cathedral and marvel at its vaulted ceiling and 13th-century Gothic chancel. Stop by the Norwegian Canning Museum to appreciate the town's heritage as the 'herring capital' of Norway, while the Norwegian Petroleum Museum showcases the oil industry with submersibles, an escape chute, and a large drill bit.

Olden, Norway > Innvikfjorden, Norway (Scenic Cruising) > Nordfjord, Norway (Scenic Cruising)

Olden sits at the eastern end of the serene Nordfjord, where the water divides into three arms beneath the Jostedalsbreen Glacier. The village is surrounded by green meadows with babbling brooks meandering between pretty houses. Visit the village centre to discover the 17th-century church and Singerheimen, which is the former home of the founder of the sewing machine company. Take to the Nordfjord for a rafting or kayaking adventure. Admire the green waters of Olden Lake and enjoy the cliffs and glaciers of the Oldedalen valley, which runs for 12 miles behind Olden. Walk among waterfalls and view the glistening blue ice at the impressive Briksdal Glacier — one of Norway's most visited sights.

Day 5

Alesund, Norway

The port town of Ålesund is spread across several islands on the west coast of Norway; it was rebuilt in 1904 following a huge fire and now features stunning Art Nouveau architecture. Pay a visit to the Ålesund's Holmbua landmark by the harbour - an 1861 warehouse which houses the fishing displays of Ålesund Museum - before exploring The Art Nouveau Centre. Relax with coffee and cake in a pavement cafe or dine on locally-caught fish in one of the many restaurants. Walk up Mount Aksla for spectacular views; see the time capsule and Viking ship replicas at Jugendstilsenteret and Sunnmore Museums; and feed the fish at Atlanterhavsparken. There are a variety of hiking, biking, and kayaking excursions to enjoy here too.

Haugesund, Norway

Discover the city of Haugesund, at the point where the fjords flow into the North Sea in the southwest of Norway. Haugesund is famed as 'Norway's Birthplace' and boasts a proud Viking heritage, brought to life at Avaldsnes' Nordvegen History Centre on the nearby island of Karmoy. Visit Haraldshaugen national monument unveiled in 1872 to commemorate 1,000 years since the country's unification, delve into Haugesund's culture and history at Karmsund Folkemuseum, and stroll along Haraldsgata lined with traditional clapboard building filled with shops, cafes, and restaurants. This vibrant city also hosts a few cultural and musical festivals throughout the year, the most famous being the Norwegian International Film Festival and Sildajazz Festival. Akrafjord and the Langfoss Waterfall are also within easy reach.

The name ‘Queen Anne’ celebrates Cunard’s rich heritage, royal history, and refined status – joining a luxury contemporary fleet now honouring the names of each Queen Regnant over the last millennium.

Their close relationship with the British monarchy is a key part of their heritage, and they pride themselves on a history that is closely interwoven with that of the nation. A fitting name for the fourth in a fleet of prestigious queens, Queen Anne was chosen because of the monarch’s many merits. Reigning between the years of 1702 and 1714, in just twelve short years Queen Anne achieved a great deal, including the unification of Great Britain and pushing forward the boundaries of arts and education, enabling great progress and change. An often overlooked and even mistreated sovereign, Queen Anne was indeed an accomplished and dedicated woman. Well-loved by the people, she was an example of true grace and refinement. Two qualities that are emulated by her namesake, their fourth ship.
