Background
Borealis
Overview
Bearing a name that previously bestowed an Olsen-owned vessel in the 1940s, and inspires thoughts of the Aurora Borealis, elegant Borealis proudly connects with, and represents, the founding family’s history and Norwegian heritage. Stylish, spacious and comfortable, with capacity for fewer than 1,400 guests, she’s in keeping with Fred. Olsen’s commitment to offering a more traditional style of cruising. But while Borealis’ capacity is smaller than many cruise vessels, she’s still one of the largest ships, by size, in the fleet. On board Borealis you’ll find you’re never overcrowded. There is always ample room in which to indulge yourself in the stylish dining venues, enjoy a glass of your favourite tipple and fantastic entertainment at the bars, lounges and theatres, and while away the hours by the all-season pool. And of course, with our friendly staff providing our typical level of personal, attentive service, there’s an intimate feel to the on board experience too.

Food & Drink
Dining experiences aboard Borealis offer something for everyone; from fresh-cooked breakfasts to sumptuous five-course a la carte dinners. Borealis's main restaurant is a grand two-tier affair with a classical, elegant décor and a variety of table sizes and seating options; making it the perfect for both intimate dinners-for-two and group dining. You can also opt to dine in any of other supplementary venues or perhaps at the more relaxed buffet restaurant. The dress code is casual by day and the evenings are smart-casual except for the Formal Nights. Discover 11 stylish and comfortable bars and lounges on Borealis to match your every mood. Each bar and lounge offers a relaxed ambience and a varied menu of hot and cold drinks and classic cocktails. The two-tier main evening show lounge allows you unspoilt views of the vibrant after-dinner shows on stage.
Entertainment
There's plenty to entertain you both day and night on Borealis. Top up your tan by the duo of swimming pools or chill out in the bubbling Jacuzzis. Pamper mind and body in the spa's Thermal Spa, Aroma Room, Hydro Pool, two saunas, and nine treatment rooms. Join in a friendly game on the basketball court or play a few sets on the tennis court. Improve your cooking skills with a cookery class or demonstration at The Culinary Theatre. After dinner; take a seat in the stylish lounges and theatre to enjoy live shows, ranging from music and cabaret to quick-fire stand-up comedy. Alternatively, listen to soothing live acoustic music as you sip your favourite tropical cocktail.

Health & Fitness

You'll find that there's plenty to keep you entertained during the day on board Borealis, whether you prefer to while away the hours relaxing or engaging your body and mind. The ship's facilities include two swimming pools, two jacuzzis and an impressive spa with a Thermal Spa, Aroma Room, Hydro Pool, two saunas and nine treatment rooms, while there are tennis and basketball courts and a Culinary Theatre – which hosts fantastic cookery classes and demonstrations – too.

Kids & Teens

Children of 6 months and over are very welcome on our ships. On peak-time holiday cruises, our Little Skippers Club keeps kids between 5 and 11 years old entertained with a variety of fun activities. They will enjoy arts and crafts, discos, treasure hunts and loads more, all run by our friendly team of hosts and hostesses*.

A list of the day's events are included in the Little Skippers Club's mini-version of the Daily Times, which also shows the separate pool times for kids. Activities also stretch across the evenings, to suit the individual needs of families on board. Please note: our Little Skippers Club also welcomes children under 5, however parents must provide supervision at all times. The club operates subject to minimum numbers being achieved.

**Please note we will not be operating any Little Skippers clubs aboard our Welcome Back sailings this summer. This is because cruising restart guidelines require all guests, including children, to remain in their household or dining bubbles on board.
