Today you'll visit the tombs of ancient Egypt in the Valley of the Kings - one of the most famous archaeological sites in the world. The amazing rock-cut tombs are located on the west bank of Luxor and include the enigmatic King Tutankhamun's mummified remains on display. Afterwards, you'll go to Deir el-Bahri to see the Temple of Hatshepsut, one of Egypt's most successful pharaohs and its first female ruler. Next, you'll visit the Valley of the Queens, home to the mummified remains of more than 30 queens and princesses, including Nefertari's Tomb where you'll enjoy exclusive access. Your day's adventure concludes with an up-close view of the Colossi of Memnon - two gigantic statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III. Once back aboard AmaDahlia; cap the day off with the Captain's Welcome Cocktail as the ship sails towards Edfu.
6
Edfu, Egypt
The city of Edfu is famous for being home to one of Egypt's most remarkably-preserved temples, dedicated to the falcon-headed god - Horus. Built in 230 BC; it's the second-largest temple in Egypt and a UNESCO-listed site with walls that display compelling details about the religion and language of the country's Greco-Roman period. After visiting Edfu, relax aboard and take in the Nile River's timeless landscapes as the ship continues a steady course towards Aswan. Step back aboard ship and relax and take in the timeless landscapes of the Nile River as she continues to Aswan.
7
Aswan, Egypt
Southern Egypt's strategic and commercial gateway is Aswan; a city on the Nile River well-known for its significant archaeological sites. Take in the quiet, dusty streets and traditional villages of Elephantine Island or visit Aswan Museum to test the Nilometer; a measuring system the ancient Egyptians used to assess the height of the Nile. Discover the sight of the unfinished Obelisk for a look into how much work used to go into the stonemasonry here. The Nubian Museum will give you plenty of knowledge on the culture of the Nubian people or take photos of the High Dam looking so picturesque. Enjoy a spot of shopping at the Souk or take hike and climb to reach the Monastery of St Simien.
8
Aswan, Egypt > Esna, Egypt
This morning, you can enjoy free time in Aswan or go on an optional excursion to Abu Simbel (pre-booking required). This excursion gets underway with an early morning flight over Lake Nasser to the 3,000-year-old Abu Simbel UNESCO-listed site dedicated to Ramses 11 - with four enormous 70-feet-high statues of the Pharaoh on his throne - and the smaller temple dedicated to his chief wife Queen Nefertari. During the afternoon, the ship cruises to the Great Temple of Kom Ombo with its soaring columns and dedicated to two gods - the crocodile god Sobek and the falcon-headed Haroeris, 'The Good Doctor'. After visiting Kom Ombo, relax onboard and take in the Nile River's unfolding landscapes as the ship continues towards Esna. In the evening, join your crew outside on the Sun Deck in a celebration of local customs with the chance to don a Galabeya, traditional Egyptian attire, and toast to the rich culture and history of the Nile River Valley.

Esna, Egypt > Luxor, Egypt
Spend the morning with scenic cruising along the glistening Nile River. Relax on the Sun Deck as the ship cruises from Esna back to Luxor. Discover the art of papyrus making with a museum visit and learn how the ancient Egyptians used this special plant that flourished in the Egyptian Delta and Nile River Valley. Made from the aquatic papyrus plant, this unique writing material served many purposes in ancient times from sails, cloth, food, and especially paper for important documents and texts. Tonight, you can join an optional outing to the light show at Karnak Temple.

Luxor, Egypt > Qena, Egypt > Luxor, Egypt

You'll go to Dendara; home to the best-preserved temple in Egypt, the Temple of Hathor - the Goddess of Love - to whom the powers of joy, feminine love, and motherhood were attributed. The temple was built by Ptolemy and a group of Romans who worshipped her; don't miss the back of the temple where there's a relief depicting Cleopatra with Caesarion, her son by Julius Caesar, the Roman Emperor who brought us the months of July and August.
