Izmir, Turkey
The city of Izmir sits on Turkey's Aegean coast. Founded by the Greeks; it was formerly known as Smyrna and was then taken over by the Romans, and subsequently re-built for Alexander the Great prior to becoming part of the Ottoman Empire in the 15th century. Today it boasts vast archaeological sites to explore; such as the Roman Agora of Smyrna which is now an open-air museum and the hilltop Kadifekale (or Velvet Castle) that overlooks Izmir. Stroll through the Bazaar district's Kermalti Market and Kızlarağası Hanı covered market and pay a visit to Fatih Camii Mosque. Indulge in retail therapy at Konak Pier and get up close to tigers and elephants at Izmir Wildlife Park. If you're looking for sunbathing and swimming the surrounding towns of Cesme, Alacati, Ilica, Urla, and Seferihisa have nice beaches. Izmir is also gateway to the ancient site of Ephesus near Selcuk; home to the remains of the Temple of Artemis, House of the Virgin Mary, and Library of Celsus and the nearby Basilica of St John and Isa Bey Mosque.

Patmos, Greece
The Greek island of Patmos sits in the eastern Aegean Sea, separated from Turkey by the Mycale Strait. This sacred island is rumoured to be the place where Saint John wrote the Book of Revelation and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit the cave-based Holy Monastery of the Apocalypse, between the port of Skala and Patmos Town, where Saint John is believed to have heard the voice of God. Patmos Town is home to the Monastery of Saint John the Divine, which boasts 14th-century frescoes and also a treasury/library packed with over 2,000 ancient books including parts of the manuscript of St Mark's Gospel. Lively Skala is the perfect spot to unwind and sample local produce, fish, and drinks in the traditional bakeries and seaside tavernas and cafes.

The Port of Rhodes sits on the northern edge of Rhodes Island — 12 miles off the coast of Turkey. With just a short walk you’ll reach the Citadel of Rhodes and its various boutiques, cafes and souvenir shops. Immerse yourself further in Rhodes’ fascinating history and visit the Palace of the Grand Masters. You can take a short 50-minute taxi ride to Lindos and witness the breathtaking Acropolis of Lindos. There are also an abundance of beaches on Rhodes to chill out and relax.
