Valletta, Malta

Fly from selected UK airport to Valletta, Malta. Malta's small capital city — Valletta — sits within the city's original walls on a hillside and is known for its old churches, palaces and museums. Formerly ruled by the French, Italians, Spanish, and British; this UNESCO World Heritage site is filled with more than 300 historical monuments — making it one of the most concentrated historic areas in the world! Stroll through the narrow cobblestone streets of its old town district and see the famous Maltese-decorated balconies. Among a variety of churches, you can discover St. John's Co-Cathedral — one of Malta's biggest tourist attractions — with its striking interior decor and painting of John the Baptist by Caravaggio.

At sea

Dubrovnik, Croatia

The Croatian city of Dubrovnik sits on the country's southern coast on the Adriatic Sea. Explore the distinctive Old Town — an UNESCO World Heritage site — with its 17th-century Cathedral of the Assumption, baroque St Blaise Church, the Renaissance Sponza Palace, and the Gothic Rector's Palace. Experience the shops and restaurants on the pedestrianised Stradun and take a leisurely walk around the ancient city walls. Admire the views as you ride the cable car to Mt Srd or visit one of the city's museums. Relax in the sunshine on Banje Beach; enjoy a boat trip to the nearby islands of Lokrum and Elafati; view the city from the water on a kayaking trip; or take a snorkelling tour.

Kotor, Montenegro

Kotor is based on the Adriatic coastline in south-west Montenegro. One of the country's prettiest and most-famous towns, Kotor is an UNESCO World Heritage site and offers a range of historic landmarks and natural beauty spots. The old town district is filled with medieval architecture and monuments — as well as one of the narrowest streets in the world! From its Venetian-style gates to its former Austrian prisons, Kotor's past is kept alive for you to explore. Wander around the range of shops, and head to a bar or restaurant at a piazza to admire views of the mountains.

Corfu, Greece

The island of Corfu sits off the north coast of Greece in the Ionian Sea. Surrounded by rugged mountains and lined with golden beach resorts, it's a cosmopolitan island with a strong, traditional character. Corfu has long been a hugely popular holiday destination due to its laid-back atmosphere, fun beaches, fantastic climate, and welcoming villages. Its old town is filled with Byzantine churches, Venetian fortresses and French-style houses. Spend time relaxing on the sand or enjoying water sports in the sea, before sampling the island's delicious cuisine — often a tasty blend of Greek and Italian — at a beachfront restaurant. The waterfront is lined with bars and cafes, and there are plenty of craft markets for buying souvenirs.

Taranto, Italy

The coastal city of Taranto lies between the Mar Grande and Mar Piccolo in southern Italy. Home to stunning natural landscapes, long stretches of sandy beaches, quaint seaside resorts, and wild areas with sheer cliffs; Taranto has plenty to offer. Tour the 15th-century Aragonese Castle guided by the Italian Navy or discover the unique characteristics of the Cathedral of Saint Catald. Check out the historical quirks of National Archaeological Museum of Taranto-Marta and sail along the Ponte Girevole canal. San Vito is an idyllic seaside resort ideal for soaking up the sunshine, trying out water sports, or swimming the crystal blue waters. Experience up-close encounters at the Jonian Dolphin Conservation and capture photos with the beautiful sea life species.
