The ancient port city of Cadiz lies on a peninsula on Spain's south-west coast. From its bustling harbour to its Moorish-style old town, Cadiz is awash with things to see and do. Explore Museo de Cadiz and Museo de las Cortes de Cadiz, or visit the cathedral to see more of the city from its Toree de Poniente. Soak up the sunshine on Playa de Caleta beach and escape to Parque Genoves. Relax with a plate of fried fish on Plaza de Flores, before shopping in the adjacent Mercado Central de Abastos. Venture further afield and experience flamenco and fiestas in the tree-lined streets of Seville or uncover the art of sherry making in Jerez.

Ibiza, Spain

Ibiza is part of Spain's Balearic Islands. Famous for its lively nightlife, this popular island also features plenty of landmarks and activities to enjoy. Walk the perimeter of Dalt Vila's Renaissance ramparts and see the 18th-century Sant Carles church. You can stroll through the UNESCO World Heritage site of the old town district and stop for a beer or coffee at one of the welcoming cafes and tapas bars. Sail to Es Vedra — a tall limestone island that is famous for being a site of myths and legends. Ibiza Town and San Antonio Bay have a huge selection of bars, restaurants and entertainment venues open both day and night. Enjoy paella, lobster and steaks at a waterfront restaurant, before an evening of wines, cocktails and live music.

Cagliari, Italy

Cagliari is the capital of the Italian island of Sardinia. Golden-hued palazzi, domes and buildings wind their way up the rocky hillside to Il Castello and the Old Town district. Stroll along the tree-lined boulevards by the seafront Marina. Stop by the impressive Cattedrale di Santa Maria or step back in time at Museo Archaeologico Nazionale. Take the lift from Piazza della Costituzione to Bastione San Remy for sweeping views. Spend a few hours soaking up the sun on Poetto Beach or enjoy a glimpse of local life at Mercato di San Benedetto. A visit to the pink flamingos at Parco di Molentargius is a must-do too.

Mallorca, Spain

Palma sits on the south coast of Balearic island of Majorca and is the island's capital city. The streets of this vibrant port city are lined with an eclectic mix of restaurants, bars, galleries, shops, and heritage buildings. Explore the narrow alleys and lanes of the old town, before spending time at the impressive Palma Cathedral. Indulge in retail therapy on Avenida Jaume III, Passeig de Born, and the streets around the Placa Major. Palma Aquarium, Bellver Castle and the Joan Miro Foundation are well worth a visit, too. The dolphin, sea lion and parrot shows at Marineland and Poble Espanyol — a collection of Spain's famous buildings in miniature — are great for family times. Cartagena is a port city in the Murcia region of southeast Spain. Discover the Muralla del Mar, Palacio Consistorial and the Old Cathedral in the Old Quarter. Explore the city's Roman heritage at the Roman Theatre Museum and Casa de Fortuna. Pay a visit to ARQUA Marine Achaeology Museum and the Municipal Achaeology Museum. Take a stroll along the shop and cafe-lined Calle Mayor. Venture further afield to view Bateria de Castillitos at Cape Tinoso.

Gibraltar is a vibrant slice of Britain at the heart of the sunny Mediterranean. Take a cable car up to Europa Point to meet the famous Barbary macaque tailless monkeys and admire all of Gibraltar.
